Do you ever wonder why mobile phone manufacturers have to embed unique tones on their mobile phones? They can do remix of several tones from other mobile phones however they still have their own unique and easy to recognize ringtones. As we have noticed, every phone has its own tone that conveys the brand name. Manufacturers are using ringtones to introduce their products to present and future consumers or simply use it for marketing purposes.
Renowned phone manufacturers spend thousands of dollars in acquiring unique tones to represent their phones. Some companies even conduct competitions for musicians to create special tones for them. These tones speak for the company and not for a single model of the manufacturer’s mobile phone. Because of the popularity of signature tones we can determine what mobile phone someone is using. This is how important signature ringtones are and how mobile phone manufacturers value these melodies on their mobile phones. You will definitely not see any mobile phone in the market being sold without a signature tone from the manufacturer. Mobile phone tones allow us to distinguish every mobile phone in existence today.
Advertisements for mobile phones will never be complete without the sound of the signature melody. It is always included as it brings people get acquainted to the melody of the mobile phone’s manufacturer. There are also advertisements that combine signature tones with phrases. “Connecting people” is the most famous phrase by Nokia and have been very helpful with their mobile phone marketing.
In movies, it would be hard to determine what mobile phone a character has by simply looking at it. But through the tone it produced we can directly conclude of a certain brand that uses the ringtone. Several movies advertised phone manufacturers through the ringtone they popularized. Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, and other well known phones are widely used in movies and by simply listening to the melody of the phone we determine what it is.
The movie “Kill Bill” used the Nokia tune in one of its segment which shows us how manufacturers take advantage of the melody in many ways. This is how impacting a mobile phone ringer can be not just for us consumers, but also to the manufacturers who have invested a lot to popularize the tone.
Phones are easy to recognize with the signature ringtone they convey to listeners. Even without physically seeing or touching the unit one can have a concrete idea of the phone and possibly determine what the model is. After hearing the “Hello Moto” signature tone that really fascinated me, I immediately recognized the Motorola phone where the tone was produced.
The funny thing about it is that users can mix up different signature tones with other mobile phones. Software applications are widely available over the Internet for users to download and compose their own tone. Some of us might find it interesting to place a Nokia tune to a Samsung mobile phone and vice versa. This is possible and can easily be done through the help of these software applications. Doing such act can result to another funny melodic tone. Other users are even remixing signature tones to fit to the trend of music most of us love to listen.
